Granule Mixing System

In asphalt shingle production wherever there is a Blender or Blended Granule Applicator being used to apply a blend of colored granules to the top of an asphalted coated membrane surface there is the need to mix granules.  From semi-automated systems to fully automated systems, Reichel & Drews offers a variety of solutions for mixing granules.

Different colors of mineral granules are typically placed into individual silos or hoppers. Proportional valves located on the bottom of each silo permit specific proportions of different colors to fall onto a conveyor where they are mixed during transportation to a dedicated use bin located above the production line.

Any number of color combinations can be made and transferred to selected bins.  The granule color combinations from the several bins are then applied to an asphalt-coated fiberglass mat by the Blender.  The entire process is automated and controlled by a state of the art control system utilizing either Allen Bradley or Siemens control architecture.
