The company was founded on the principle that quality industrial products, which fulfill customer needs, would make it an industry leader. Today, we still believe in this guiding principle.
Hugo Reichel had a key invention that began in 1923 and patented in January 1926. His shingle cutter enhanced the cutting, stacking, and bundling of asphalt shingles. This landmark invention helped change the company and the industry. This machine would take long rolls of asphalt composition roofing and cut individual shingles from the material.
In the 1930’s Reichel & Drews introduced to the industry the first automated roll winder. This innovation was then followed by the automated stacking system, shingle bundle wrapping machine and the automated shingle bundle palletizing system.
Throughout our more than 100 years of history, Reichel & Drews has grown with the asphalt & bitumen roofing manufacturing industries. We are one of the few companies in the world that can supply manufacturing systems for both the production of shingles and commercial roll products along with a full complement of other products all intended to make a roofing material manufacturing plant more productive and profitable.
