Reliable roofing manufacturing depends on more than just innovative production equipment design. Controls affect how smoothly a line starts, how consistently it runs, and how quickly issues can be identified and corrected. When you work with us for your controls and automation, you get controls designed specifically for the roofing and waterproof membrane manufacturing industry.
Our understanding and extensive knowledge of roofing production means that our controls are built around how equipment actually runs on the plant floor. Operators get clear feedback and safe working conditions. Maintenance teams get systems they can support. And Engineers get predictable behavior.
Reichel & Drews control systems are seveloped with a focus on:
At Reichel & Drews, controls engineering, equipment design, manufacturing, and testing all happen under one roof. Our controls team works directly with mechanical, electrical, and process teams as machines are developed and constructed. This coordinated approach means less time spent troubleshooting during installation, faster commissioning, and control systems that behave the way the equipment was designed to run.
Specifically, by closely coordinating controls development and equipment design, we can:
Whether you’re planning new equipment or modernizing an existing line, you can trust the controls experts at Reichel & Drews. Our engineering and design expertise extends to many major brands of industrial controls manufacturers including Rockwell Automation and Siemens.
Controls and automation services include:
Many facilities rely on equipment that is mechanically sound but limited by aging or unsupported control systems. Upgrading controls can provide enhanced safety, efficiency, and scalability without the expense of full equipment replacement.
Reichel & Drews evaluates existing systems and develops upgrade paths that match plant priorities and long-term plans. Projects can be targeted to address specific safety, reliability, or usability issues, or more comprehensive, to support broader modernization plans.
Obsolete or unsupported hardware

Limited visibility into process conditions

Inconsistent operation or difficult troubleshooting

Changes in production requirements or operating speeds

Safety or compliance updates
Reichel & Drews is a UL 508A Listed Industrial Control Panel Shop and designs and builds control systems that meet or exceed recognized industry requirements for safety, quality, and electrical practices.
We maintain relevant certifications and follow established standards for controls design, cabinet fabrication, wiring, and testing.
These certifications and standards help ensure:
We are proud to be a Rockwell Automation Gold OEM Partner. The Gold OEM Partner designation recognizes companies with strong technical execution across multiple disciplines and a commitment to collaboration and continuous learning. It also brings enhanced access to Rockwell’s technical resources and engineering support. Additionally, due to Reichel & Drew’s status as a Gold OEM Supplier, Rockwell Automation hardware supplies carry a 3-year warranty.
Roofing plants are tough places to run electronics. Dust, heat, vibration, and constant activity are just part of day‑to‑day production, and in some situations those conditions can make it harder for control systems to stay clean, organized, and easy to maintain.
As an optional approach, Reichel & Drews offers Electrical Houses, or E‑Houses, to provide a dedicated, enclosed space for housing electrical and control equipment. E‑Houses are not required for every project, but they can be a good fit when additional protection, cleaner organization, or a more centralized control layout makes sense.
Reichel & Drews designs and builds E‑Houses in‑house at our Itasca, Illinois facility. This allows controls to be assembled, wired, and tested before shipment, which can reduce on‑site work and help installations go more smoothly. When deployed, E‑Houses are designed to integrate cleanly with the equipment and control architecture they support, while keeping long‑term access and maintainability in mind.
