STACKING

The stacker is where individual shingles are counted, aligned, and grouped into bundles for downstream packaging. As shingles exit the cut-to-length cutter, they are transferred into the stacker and guided into position, typically using star wheels that control spacing and help direct each shingle into the stacking zone. The system counts each shingle as it enters, building the bundle to the required quantity.

As the stack grows, positioning features keep the shingles aligned so the bundle remains square and consistent. Once the target count is reached, the stack is squared against stops to ensure clean edges and uniform geometry. The completed bundle is then supported on drop plates, which open in a controlled motion to release the bundle onto a takeaway conveyor for the next stage of handling.

Reichel & Drews stackers are engineered to build consistent, well-aligned bundles while maintaining continuous production flow. Our systems precisely control the timing, spacing, and positioning of shingles as they are fed into the stack, helping ensure uniform bundle formation and smooth downstream transfer.

Integrated controls coordinate stack formation and release timing with upstream cutters and downstream conveyors, allowing the stacker to operate as part of a stable, synchronized system. The result is consistent bundle quality, reduced handling issues, and reliable operation at full production speeds.
