Mounted to the Cooling Belt frame, the Coating box utilizes an electrically heated application box having no continuously rotating or moving parts to accurately apply coating compound to the release film.
Compound flows from the box under the consistent force of gravity onto the high-temperature release film. The film is fully supported and cooled during application on the cooling belt. The thickness of the applied compound is precisely controlled by the gap set between the bottom of the coating box and the application surface. This gap is adjusted using servo motors and linear transducers on either side of the coating box. Linear actuator adjusted side guides provide for coating width control and adjustment.
For a single layer membrane, the coating compound is precisely applied by a single coating module. Integrating additional coating modules can produce products having multiple layers of coating. Additional layers can be applied either to the top of a previously applied coating or sandwiched in between other layers of film.
