SPLICE TABLE

Two different approaches to roll splicing are used depending on production needs—manual systems that rely on operator control, and semi-automatic systems that improve consistency and speed.

Manual Splice Table:

A manual splice table is used to join the end of one material roll to the beginning of the next, allowing production to continue while changing rolls. It gives operators a flat, stable surface to align and splice the material before restarting the line.

During a manual splice, operators place the outgoing material and the new roll onto the table, align them by hand, and create a controlled overlap or seam. The materials are then bonded together using tape, adhesive, or heat-activated methods, depending on the process. After a visual check to confirm splice quality, production resumes and the new roll feeds through the line.

Since each step is done manually, splice quality depends on the operator’s experience and attention to detail rather than automated systems. Manual splice tables are straightforward, dependable, and easy to maintain, making them a practical choice for lower-speed lines and shorter production runs.

Semi-Automatic Splice Table:

The semi-automatic splice table is designed to quickly and consistently join rolls of reinforcement material during shingle production. It utilizes a hot melt glue film to form a strong, dependable splice that allows material to move smoothly through the line.

Operators guide the reinforcement into the table, secure it in position, and trim it to the proper length before activating the splicing press. Heated upper and lower press beams then apply controlled heat and pressure to bond the material, creating a uniform splice with each cycle.

Integrated temperature and pressure settings help ensure consistent, repeatable results, while the press automatically retracts from the material when not in use. At the exit end, a built-in brake roll keeps the reinforcement steady during the splicing process and isolates it from the downstream accumulator to prevent unintended movement.

This semi-automatic setup enables efficient roll changes while maintaining steady material flow and reliable consistent splice quality.
